What this covers

This policy covers the iPhone app Rooftop Station (屋顶电台) and the website rooftopstation.com. Both are developed and run by Zenyinn (禅银).

The app collects no data

Rooftop Station has no accounts, no sign-in and no server of ours. The app doesn't send anything to us or to anyone else.

There are no ads, no third-party analytics or tracking code, and no tracking across other apps or websites. This matches its App Store privacy label: Data Not Collected.

What stays on your phone

The pieces you add to your station (the app keeps only a number and regenerates the music on your phone when you play it) and settings such as the sleep timer are saved on your iPhone. Delete the app and they go with it.

If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, these settings are included in that backup, which Apple handles and we can't see.

Sensors

To turn the view as you move, the app reads your phone's gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer to work out which way it's pointing. Those readings are used on the phone in real time. They aren't stored or sent anywhere.

Direction comes from the magnetic field, so Rooftop Station doesn't use your location and never asks for location access. It doesn't use the microphone, camera, photos or contacts either.

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases and subscriptions go through the App Store and are handled by Apple. We never see your name, your Apple ID or your payment details. The app only checks with Apple, on your phone, whether your subscription is active. Apple's handling of that information is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.

Statistics Apple shares with developers

If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple gives us crash reports and usage statistics in anonymous, aggregated form, and we use them only to fix problems. App Store Connect also shows us download counts and country-level totals. None of it can be used to identify you.

This website

rooftopstation.com has no accounts and no ads. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. It sets no cookies, doesn't fingerprint your device and can't follow you to other sites. What we see is numbers, not people.

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and fend off attacks. That processing is covered by Cloudflare's own policies, and we don't use it to identify or track individual visitors.

If you contact us

When you email us, we receive your address and your message. We use them only to reply, and to look back at the conversation if you write again. We don't add you to any mailing list or pass your address to anyone. Ask us to delete the thread and we will.

Children

Rooftop Station is suitable for all ages. It collects no data from anyone, children included.

Your rights

Laws such as China's Personal Information Protection Law, the EU's GDPR and California's CCPA give you rights to access, correct and delete personal information about you. For Rooftop Station, the honest answer is that we don't hold any.

If you think we do, write to us and we'll tell you exactly what there is and delete it on request. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If a future version starts handling any data, for example analytics to improve the app, we'll update this policy and the App Store privacy label before that version is released, and change the date at the top of this page. We won't quietly start collecting anything.
